Trust · Straight talk about money

How we're paid

You don't pay me a fee. When you enroll in a plan, the insurance company pays me a commission that is already built into the plan — so using a broker doesn't add to what you pay. And because I'm independent, that commission isn't tied to any one company, which means my advice isn't either. That's the honest version, and this page walks through it.

Who actually pays me

The insurance companies do, not you. When you enroll in a plan through me, the carrier pays a commission for placing and servicing that coverage. It's a standard part of how insurance is sold, and it's already accounted for in the plan — it isn't a line item added on top for choosing to work with a broker. I'd rather you hear that from me plainly than wonder about it later.

Why my advice isn't tied to any one company

I'm an independent broker, so I'm not on any single company's payroll and I'm not steering you toward a house brand. My job is to look across the options and match coverage to how you actually earn and how you use care. If the honest answer is one that doesn't earn me anything, that's still the answer you get — being independent is what lets me say so.

What it costs you to use a broker

Nothing extra. The price of a plan is set by the insurer and regulated at the state level — it's the same whether you enroll with me or sign up on your own. So you get a licensed person in your corner, before and long after enrollment, at no added cost to you. There's no fee to talk, no fee to enroll, and no catch hiding in the fine print.

Why I put this in writing

Most people have been sold to at some point and kept their guard up ever since — I don't blame them. The way trust gets built is by being clear about the things people usually have to guess at, and how an agent gets paid is near the top of that list. So here it is, in plain English. When it's time to talk about your specific situation, we'll do that live — by phone or in person — where I can answer your questions directly.

Common questions

Do I pay you a fee?

No. There is no fee to work with me. The insurance company pays a commission when you enroll, and it's already built into the plan — it isn't billed to you.

Does using a broker cost more than going direct?

No. A plan's price is set by the insurer and regulators, so it's the same whether you enroll with me or on your own. Using a broker doesn't add to what you pay.

Are you paid more to recommend one company over another?

No. I'm independent, so my recommendation isn't tied to any single company. My job is to fit the coverage to your life, not to move a particular plan.
